With the increasing ease and availability of media-capture devices, learning artefacts have started to diversify to include photos, videos and even audio recordings capturing student experiences. The uSpace Media section essentially brings the Media Gallery module from Ultranet’s pages and embeds a personal one on your own profile page, so users can upload and share media artefacts easily.
Visual and audial artefacts.
Sometimes it’s quicker, more appropriate and just more powerful to convey something with a picture, a video or an audio recording. Users can embrace the media world by uploading and sharing these artefacts within their uSpace Media page. Camp photos, artworks, drama performances, webcam reflections, speech recordings, oral language samples … the possibilities are almost endless!
Similar to the Media Gallery module, uSpace Media supports the following file formats:
Photo: PNG, JPG, GIF
Video: AVI, MOV, WMV, MP4, MPG, MPE, DIVX, 3GP, RM, MKV, QT, OGV
Audio: MP3, M4A, WMA, WAV, OGG
Additionally, a ZIP archive can be utilised for bulk uploading of photos.
Albums created under uSpace Media follow the same sharing and publishing rules as their counterparts in the ePortfolio.
That means you can share specific folders of photos, videos or audio files to all your Buddies, just a selection of Buddies, or only to Teachers and Parents. Once shared, the media files can be viewed and feedback given using the integrated commenting feature.
Plus, just like the portfolio artefacts, teachers can add formal comments or feedback to the individual items within the album. Students and parents can then review and respond to these as required, helping to build stronger ties in the three-way learning partnership.
